Looking Back from Issue No. 100

It was late 1995 when my then secretary Lisa suggested to me that we should consider writing a serious newsletter for our clients.  I liked the idea, but, as many of my friends and clients know I can be technologically disinclined – computers, smart-phones, GPS, instant messaging, Facebook, tweeting, etc. – these marvels are not for me.   She was persistent, so with broad authorization to spend no more than $40, she went out to Comp USA and bought a computer publishing program – the same one we still use today.  Issue No. 1 went to press in February, 1996.  The rest, as they say . . .

Somewhere early in the process Ken Butera became involved – enough to claim partial credit for the genesis of the Law Update.  Over the years his “Queen’s English” column has received consistently favorable response from friends and clients (and it keeps him occupied with mastering grammatical nuances which the Queen herself would fumble).  The other attorneys contribute regularly to our “homegrown” bi-monthly effort to keep our clients abreast of current legal developments.

Since all issues of the Law Update are posted on the Internet now, we receive calls from all manner of people and places about what we have to say – it is quite remarkable really and we are touched that people actually look forward to reading our little publication.   Flash forward to August, 2012 – Lisa has been my wife since October of 1996 (still is) and my partner Ken Butera (still is) and I still try to remember the details of how it all started!  It has been a fun ride so far and we intend to continue to try to provide you with an interesting read to look forward to – on to Issue No. 101!
