Marty Eckard Retires
Although she had let us know several months ago that she was giving serious thought to retirement after being our Controller/Office Manager since 1978, when Marty Eckard made it official in May, we all experienced a time of sadness. Given her energy level, “retirement” is hardly a word that seems to apply!
Marty’s skill with numbers, her attention to thousands of details, and her fierce loyalty to the firm are all superb qualities; but above all, was her manner with ten lawyers and their infinite administrative problems and (often unpredictable) whims. She dealt with all of it with ease and grace; and, if a solution was out there, she found it!
An early riser, she had half a day’s work under her belt by the time most of us would arrive at the office. She and her laugh that would rock the office are already greatly missed as she and her husband Doug undertake a dozen new projects and can spend more time with her family at the shore. Our deepest gratitude and best wishes go out to Marty in her new phase.
