Commercial Leases in Tough Times

Many commercial leases provide for rent escalation clauses based on inflation and the Consumer Price Index.  If you are facing a rental increase and would like us to check your landlord’s math, and otherwise check to ensure that he is abiding by the provisions of the lease, please do not hesitate to call.  More generally, now may be a good time to try to re-negotiate lease terms and rates, particularly if you are one of the last tenants standing in a semi-vacant building.  Any of our real estate attorneys would be happy to assist.  You may be able to have a poor economy work to your advantage.
